Another wave of violence in Sweden – the police are considering safety zones | News in brief

People have been shot in both Malmö and Eskilstuna.

Violent crime has flared up again in Sweden. The police are considering establishing special security zones in Eskilstuna and Malmö.

By establishing a security zone, the police get more powers. The police can, for example, perform body checks or search vehicles without concrete suspicion of a crime.

Yesterday, Friday, a known gang criminal was shot in Eskilstuna. In addition, a little later a young man was shot. The connection between the cases is being investigated.

In the past week, there have been several acts of violence in Malmö, such as explosions. On Monday, a well-known member of a criminal gang was shot. According to the newspaper Aftonbladet, the shooting took place in the middle of the day with an assault rifle.

According to Dagens Nyheter, the police do not yet have any suspects.

The police have increased their presence in the Rosengård district and in the vicinity of Möllevångstorget.
