The pharmaceutical company that saves Denmark from recession

Kalundborg, in Denmark best known for its church, has recently become known for something completely different: slimming drugs.

The company Novo Nordisk has its headquarters in the city. And SVT is not the only media to visit the city – 13 others have already been to Kalundborg.

The pharmaceutical company keeps Denmark from a recession – but if something were to happen to the company, the country’s economy would not crash, says Las Olsen, chief economist at Danske Bank.

– If Novo Nordisk were to disappear tomorrow, it would of course be very negative, but I think we would be able to handle it, says Las Olsen, Chief Economist at Danske Bank.

At the same time, you cannot put all your resources on the Danish pharmaceutical company.

– It is important to have good conditions for all companies, not just Novo Nordisk, says Las Olsen.

In the clip, you can hear more about the small town that has become a melting pot for the Danish pharmaceutical company.
