US, University of Michigan: Consumer Confidence Rises in August, Beats Expectations

(Finance) – The index measuring US consumer confidence has been revised upwards, according to the latest survey conducted by theUniversity of Michiganwhich published the final estimate. In August, the consumer sentiment index stood at 67.9 points from 67.8 in the preliminary reading and against 66.4 in July.

The component relating to expectations, on the other hand, was confirmed to be growing, reaching 72.1 points as estimated and against 68.8 in July, while the component on the current condition was revised to 61.3 points from the preliminary of 60.9 points and from 62.7 points in July.
