(Finance) – Today, during the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, explained the new budget procedures, including the Medium-term structural plan foreseen by the European governance. This plan, which will have to be presented to the European Commission by 20 Septemberwill first be examined by the Council of Ministers and Parliament, following the same procedures as the Economic and Financial Document.
In the meantime, the Prime Minister, Giorgia Melonicategorically denied rumors that the Government intends to abolish the single allowance in the next budget law. In a video shared on social media, next to the minister Giorgetti, Meloni declared: “No, the Meloni Government will not abolish the single allowance in the next budget law. Be wary of imaginative reconstructions of a Budget that has yet to be written. We continue to work for a better and fairer Italy, after years of disasters of the left”.
Meloni then added: “We read reconstructions every day about what would be written in the budget law, which we have yet to begin writing. The latest news is that we are about to abolish the single allowancethe same allowance that we have increased and for which we are fighting in Europe.”
The Prime Minister finally underlined that the government is trying to avoid that the single allowance be extended to all immigrant workers residing in Italy, as requested by the European Commission. According to Meloni, this extension could compromise the effectiveness of the measure, “effectively killing the single allowance”.
