In Guinea-Bissau, opposition leader Nuno Gomes Nabiam returned to Bissau on Friday, August 30, from Lisbon, after three months outside the country. His supporters gave him a popular welcome, from the airport to his private residence, defying the order of the Ministry of the Interior. The authorities, fearing unrest, banned all gatherings. Five people were arrested.
