The Boys’ biggest competition is in the works – and could get much tougher

The tough superhero satire The Boys has a fifth and final season ahead of it on Amazon Prime Video. The animation format Invincible, which is also based there, is actually even tougher – and is now also getting a live-action adaptation with flesh-and-blood actorswhich is guaranteed not to remain completely in the characters’ bodies.

This is nothing completely new: The Hollywood Reporter reported on the project in 2017, which was already thought to be in development hell. Update from Comic Template Author But Robert Kirkman now offers hope.

The Boys, beware: The Invincible live-action film is still in the works

Kirkman spoke to The Direct at this year’s Comic-Con about the protracted Invincible project, in which Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were also mentioned as participants:

It’s still in development. We’re still working with Universal on it. As you know, the show is doing very well. And I think the film has to be absolutely perfect. That’s why it’s taken so long to get the different elements in line and to get everyone working so that we can deliver something that’s as good as it can be. That’s why it’s been in development for a long time and it’s probably going to stay in development for a while longer.

In addition, the comic book author, who is also known for The Walking Dead, emphasized that an Invicible film should stand out from the seriesto deliver a completely unique experience that stands on its own two feet. It has not yet been decided whether this will involve retelling a well-known story from a comic or series or bringing something completely new to the screen.

I think we’re hopefully doing something pretty cool, but it might take so long that Timothée Chalamet can end up playing Omni-Man.
