Theory after shooting in Norsborg: The man was shot from inside the car

New information about the car murder in Norsborg • Shot in the head • Investigating blast injuries

A man was found shot to death in a crashed car in Norsborg.
The police’s theory is that the killer was traveling with the victim – and that the shot was fired from inside the car, according to information given to TV4 Nyheterna.
– They are looking for suspects in the social circle considering that they drove together, says a source.

The emergency services were alerted just after 8 pm on Tuesday to a traffic accident in Norsborg in Botkyrka municipality. A car had crashed straight into a tree. At the same time, loud bangs had been heard in the area.

When the police arrived at the scene, the traffic matter took a different turn. In the driver’s seat was a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the head, according to information from TV4 Nyheterna. He was taken to hospital by ambulance but was later pronounced dead.

The shooter may be the victim’s passenger

One of the theories that the homicide investigators now have about the course of events is that the victim was shot dead during the car ride – from inside the vehicle.

– After the collision with the tree, according to witness statements in the investigation, at least two people must have been seen jumping out of the car and running away. What remained was the shot man, and if the theory turns out to be correct, the murder appears to be a clean execution at close range, says an informant to TV4 Nyheterna.

No one was arrested on Thursday for the fatal shooting, but the police are looking for suspects in, among other things, the victim’s social circle.

– If the theory is correct that the shooter drove together with the victim, it can be assumed that they know each other. But the police are investigating widely, says a source.

Suspected blast damage to the car

According to the same information, the police’s forensic technician found an empty shell casing at the scene.

The car also had major damage on one side which is not believed to have been caused by the traffic accident. The police are instead investigating whether an explosive object was placed near the vehicle in connection with the escape and detonated. The police’s national bomb disposal unit was at the scene of the murder during the evening and carried out an investigation.

The murdered man is already known to the police and has served a prison sentence. He appears in a number of investigations and has, among other things, been convicted of a crime linked to a fatal shooting in the Stockholm area.

The police do not want to comment on the investigation or TV4 Nyhetern’s information that the shooter is believed to have been in the same car as the victim.
