They have a reputation for giving us energy, but sometimes holidays have the opposite effect. Discover how the French feel when they come back from their holidays (and it’s far from positive)!
While they allow you to recharge your batteries and take some time for yourself, vacations are not always relaxing for all French people. Last July, the NaturAvignon Laboratory conducted a survey via Facebook and Linkedin among 2,625 people aged 18 and over (a representative sample of the French population) to find out how they felt after returning from vacation. So, are you more rested, in great shape or stressed? So how do the French feel after enjoying their long-awaited vacation? Here are the results of the survey.
The majority of French people are far from being in great shape
Despite the reputation of holidays for being relaxing, only 11% of French people feel in “super shape” after their vacation. Even more surprising, almost half of the population would describe themselves as “not in good shape at all”.
Moreover, it is men who seem the least fit when returning from vacation since they are 53% compared to 41% of women. But what is this linked to?
Problems of all kinds!
The problem that affects the French the most is gaining weight! By letting go a little more on food during the holidays, 87% of them have this fear, with 88% for men and 86% for women. Then, the French are concerned about their digestion (81%), then by stress in general (63%).
Other responses from participants included, in order of most to least important problem: skin problems (sunburn), muscle and joint pain, overall well-being, blood circulation, heart health and finally memory.
A little boost for the French…
To give themselves a little boost after the holidays and better prepare for the stress of going back to school and the arrival of autumn, 83% of French people are interested in taking food supplements. Among them, 27% take them every year, 30% are only doing so this year and 26% have not yet taken the plunge but would like to try.
The supplements best known by the French? Vitamin C (96%), vitamin D (93%) and omega 3 (86%). However, some products are not very well known by the French: this is the case for maca or cod liver oil.
