There have been power outages in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, and other areas of the country early Friday. The outage affected at least 13 regions, including the states of Carabobo and Aragua.
Images of dark cities during power outages have been shared on social media. Venezuela’s Ministry of Communications and Information confirms the outages.
There is a tense situation in Venezuela, as the country held presidential elections in August, the winner of which was declared the winner of Nicolás Maduro. The opposition has not recognized Maduro’s victory, and there have been widespread protests across the country. The EU and many South American countries have not recognized Maduro’s victory.
