The actor of Arthur Morgan reveals which ending of Red Dead Redemption 2 he thinks is the right one

Red Dead Redemption 2 has multiple endings depending on the player’s choices. However, for the actor who plays Arthur Morgan, there is only one true ending – and two others make no sense to him.

What endings are there? In Red Dead Redemption 2, there are four different endings that players can experience after the story. The starting situation is that Dutch Van der Linde has gone too far and Micah Bell turns out to be an informant for the Pinkertons.

Arthur Morgan and John Marston separate from the two. Eventually they find themselves in a battle with Dutch’s gang and the Pinkertons. After that, there are four ways the game can end:

  • Good ending with high honor: We can choose to help John. Since Arthur doesn’t have much time left before he dies of tuberculosis, he sacrifices himself for John so that he can escape. He meets Micah and Dutch, but is left alone by both. He dies peacefully.
  • Good ending with low honor: Arthur also sacrifices himself for John here, but he doesn’t die as peacefully as in the other ending. Instead, he is shot by Micah Bell.
  • Bad ending with high honor: Instead of saving John, we can choose to take the gang’s money from Dutch. In doing so, Arthur returns to the camp and there is a showdown with Dutch and Micah. Unfortunately, Arthur dies in the end, but is left alone by Micah and Dutch.
  • Bad ending with low honor: Here too, we decide to take the money and run to the camp. After Dutch turns away, Micah pulls out a knife and rams it into Arthur’s back.
  • Players can therefore determine the ending by making a difficult decision. In addition, the honor that a player has accumulated over the course of Red Dead Redemption plays a large role.

The actor who plays Arthur Morgan thinks only one ending is right

Which ending makes the most sense for him? Roger Clark lent his appearance and voice to Arthur Morgan. He considers only one of the endings to be official, namely the good ending with great honor. You can see his complete reaction from 3:36 in the following English-language video:

Why do 2 of the endings not make sense? On the other hand, two endings make absolutely no sense to him. Arthur suffers from an incurable disease. Therefore, Clark does not understand why Arthur would choose the money.

It could be that Arthur wants to grab the money to give to someone else. He could possibly want to use the money to support John.

But we understand Clark’s point that Arthur would rather save John directly. After all, what use would the money be to Arthur if John didn’t survive? He could use the money to support other people, but given his story, we assume that Clark is right about the actual ending.

Roger Clark used motion capture to make Arthur Morgan look the same as himself and to make the same facial expressions and gestures. The actor also had to spend a long time in the recording studio to record Arthur Morgan’s dialogues. He had to re-record some scenes because the conversations with his horse sounded too erotic: Cowboy in Red Dead Redemption 2 spoke too sexily to horse, had to re-record
