Here are the toughest questions as Harris conducts his first interview as a presidential candidate

On the night of Friday, August 30, Kamala Harris will give a longer interview with the television channel CNN, which is described as her most important ever. It is the first since Joe Biden dropped out and backed Harris as the candidate on July 21.

The interview will be held in the wave champion state of Georgia where she is campaigning with her running mate Tim Walz. He must also be present at the interview – something she has been criticized for.

US election 2024

  • Wanted to ban the app – now they are fishing for votes on Tiktok

  • – The critics say it is defensive and cowardly. Tim Walz is a jovial and easy-going person who has had a good relationship with the media so far. Harris’s story does not look the same, says Stefan Åsberg, foreign reporter and former US correspondent.

“Basqued her time as vice president”

Before Harris became the Democratic presidential candidate, she did an interview with the NBC television channel where she was asked about immigration policy and when she planned to visit the border with Mexico. Then she replied “we’ve been to the border” but when it came out that she hadn’t actually visited the border herself, her answer was that she “hadn’t been to Europe either”

    – It was a terrible interview that had a big impact and tarnished her time as vice president, says Åsberg.

Voters want to know where she stands

When she now faces tonight’s interview, there is therefore much at stake.

    – It has been an easy journey for her in the opinion polls so far, but at the same time the voters do not really know where she stands. She has given very little clear information.

Hear which four questions are expected to be the toughest for Harris to answer during tonight’s interview in the video above.
