The gross national product measured at the annual level in the United States grew by three percent in the second quarter of the year, the economic research unit of the Ministry of Commerce of the country announced on Thursday.
Last month, the ministry estimated that the economy would grow by 2.8 percent in April–June, and the economists interviewed by the Reuters news agency also expected similar growth. The higher-than-expected growth is explained by increased spending and good corporate results, Reuters reports.
For the first quarter of the year, the US gross domestic product grew by 1.4 percent year-on-year.
