Always limited to serial updates one application at a time

Always limited to “serial” updates, one application at a time, Google’s Play Store finally allows you to download and install multiple applications simultaneously. A welcome and highly anticipated development!

While you can find almost everything in the Play Store, Google’s Android app store suffers from a major flaw: it only allows you to download two apps at a time. An improvement that users have been enjoying since last April, but which until then only concerned downloads of new apps. So no more simultaneous updates! You had to wait for one app to finish its process for the next one to launch. So you quickly found yourself with an interminable queue.

A problem that was particularly annoying when you consider that the App Store allows you to update multiple applications at the same time. Fortunately, as reported by 9to5Googleand as we’ve noticed, it is now possible to download up to three updates simultaneously. Beyond that, the others will display the “Pending” status that we are so used to. A long-awaited development!

Play Store updates: a huge time saver

When updating three apps at once, you can track their progress in the store and on the home screen. However, while it is possible to launch a fourth app or even more, they will remain “pending” until one of the other three is updated. The same limit of three now also applies to new app installations, which were previously limited to two at a time.

It is unclear whether the change was applied server-side or via an update to the Play Store itself. Still, it will be greatly appreciated, especially by users in a hurry! This limitation was no longer necessary, especially with today’s high-speed Internet connections. Better late than never!
