The matches of the different doubles classifications continue at the Arena Paris Sud with a new French pair.

Although the 19-year-old Frenchwoman took part in the 500m standings this afternoon, she only achieved the 11th time in the series. But Heïdi Gaugain did not want to qualify for the final. “The goal is to get my bearings by doing two pursuit-type laps (…), to get my bearings for the rest in relation to the public, the heat of the velodrome.”

12:44 – An exceptional atmosphere again at the para table tennis

The Arena Paris Sud has not calmed down since the crazy atmosphere around the Lebrun brothers three weeks ago, and the whole room is cheering on the French doubles competing this morning.

From 12:54 p.m. the first Frenchman enters the competition at the Grand Palais for the para taekwondo and Bopha Kong in the quarter-finals of the -58kg. 12:08 – Heïdi Gaugain in the 4th series, Marie Patouillet in the sixth

The two French women will be playing for their qualification for the 500m final in a few minutes. They must finish in the top six times to qualify for the final.

The two men qualified for the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles by winning three sets to zero against Slovakia’s Peter Mihalik and Boris Travnicek.

11:17 – No feat for Léane Morceau

The Frenchwoman finished with the eighth time in the series and will not be in the final.

11:15 – The last French girl of the morning

Léane Morceau is in lane number eight and will have to beat her personal record to reach the final in the 100m butterfly.

The goal for these 2024 Paralympic Games is quite high for the French delegation, which hopes to break all records as for the Olympic Games. “The goal is mainly gold medals, because that’s what counts most in the table of nations,” recalls Marie-Amélie Le Fur.[…] I was asked if this was not a discounted ambition compared to the Olympic top 5. But we had so neglected performance, we have come a long way. We were 14th in Tokyo; aiming for the top 8 means doubling the number of gold medals, so a real ambition” said Marie-Amélie Le Fur, president of the French Paralympic Committee. As a reminder, in 2021, the French Paralympic delegation won 54 medals, including eleven Olympic titles.
