Invisible enemies are incredibly annoying, but you can easily defeat them with an unfair trick

With a simple trick in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can outsmart invisible enemies to regain the upper hand – without having to waste resources.

Invisible enemies are annoying: In Baldur’s Gate 3, fighting invisible enemies can quickly become a frustrating experience. Especially from Act 2 of the game onwards, you will encounter many enemies that simply disappear into thin air, making them difficult to catch.

They can also launch a surprise attack that can quickly cost you your life. You often waste valuable area spells trying to somehow reveal your opponent, but this can also backfire.

But one player has found a trick that will help you uncover the invisible enemies and regain the upper hand.

How to make invisible enemies visible without wasting resources

What kind of trick is this? Player BigBoiFloop shared a brilliant tip on reddit on how to spot invisible enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3 without using resources or special abilities. This trick is said to work similarly to Divinity: Original Sin 2, another cRPG title from Larian Studios. It’s not an official trick, but a cheese method.

This is how it works in combat:

Once an enemy becomes invisible, he usually stays near the place where he disappeared – sometimes even in the exact same place.

  • This is where the movement line comes into play: Select a character whose movement line is displayed when you click on the ground to move him
  • Move this movement line back and forth in the area surrounding the disappeared enemy
  • If the line suddenly distorts, for example, forms an arc, something is blocking the way – most likely the invisible enemy
  • The enemy is blocking the way, which means that you cannot run there
  • So you can determine his position and use an area attack (maybe a classic fireball?) to make him visible again and take him out
  • Another alternative trick

Another player on reddit, Norkash, has added a complementary method that is especially effective when the opponent has changed position after becoming invisible.

Bind the ping function to a key of your choice and use it to click on the invisible enemy’s portrait in the initiative bar. This will mark the enemy’s exact location on the map, even if they have already moved. This cool trick is especially useful for pinpointing invisible enemies without wasting a lot of time or resources.

But do you really want to cheat?

Ultimately, it is up to each player to decide whether to use these methods or face the invisible enemies in another way. The Faerie Fire spell, for example, is designed to reveal invisible enemies and prevent them from becoming invisible again – provided they fail the saving throw. Nevertheless, the question remains whether such cheese methods enrich the gaming experience or rather detract from it. Did you know about the tricks? What do you think of them? Feel free to tell us in the comments. You can also get a buff from an NPC to be able to see invisible enemies permanently
