A 25-year-old man was found shot in the head in a crashed and blown-up car in Botkyrka.

He is linked to a previously noticed murder, according to information to Aftonbladet.

So far, no one has been arrested for last night’s crime.

Shortly after eight o’clock on Tuesday evening, a car crashed into a tree in Botkyrka south of Stockholm.

The police were called to the scene and a 25-year-old man was found injured in the driver’s seat. When the police examined him, however, they discovered that he had a gunshot wound to the head.

– We think he was injured before he drove into the tree. We suspect so in any case, said police spokesperson Mats Eriksson on Wednesday.

There was also extensive damage to the car in which the man was sitting and the police suspect that something detonated near the car after the crash, according to information.

The man was taken to hospital, but his life could not be saved.

Details: The perpetrators jumped out of the car

At the moment, it is unclear how the shooting took place. According to reports, witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area.

Other witnesses reportedly saw two people jump out of the car just after it crashed into the tree, according to reports. The witnesses also allegedly saw how the people took an electric scooter out of the car and then placed an object in or near the car – then it blew up.

The suspected perpetrators left the scene at the same time.

The National Bomb Squad was called to the scene during the evening to investigate the car’s damage.

Tasks: Investigating “dark car”

Shortly after the incident took place, a police car is said to have been overtaken by a dark car driving north on the E4, according to information.

Later that evening, the police are said to have been alerted to a car fire in Flemingsberg. They are now investigating whether it may have been the suspected getaway vehicle that was burned, according to information.

Link to high-profile murder

That the man was shot first and that the car was then blown up is, however, a new approach, sources tell Aftonbladet.

So far, no one has been arrested for the crime and it is unclear what the motive might have been.

According to information to Aftonbladet, the murdered man appears in a number of different legal cases. Among other things, he appears in an investigation regarding a high-profile murder in western Stockholm a few years ago.

The man was not suspected of the murder itself, but was convicted of several crimes in the same case.
