At the heart of many trends, from “sunset blush” to “strawberry makeup” to “pomegranate makeup”, blush is making a comeback on TikTok, but this time by mimicking the effect of a sunburn. “Heat stroke makeup” seeks to reproduce the visual effects of a day spent under intense sun by applying blush not only to the cheekbones, eyelids or lips, but also to the chest.
Heat stroke makeup, inspired by natural redness and bursts of warmth, is a bold makeup look that is both colorful and realistic. The look is characterized by blush-red cheeks and nose, touches of bronzer to accentuate a sun-kissed complexion, and glowing, slightly damp skin for a “just-off-the-beach” effect.
But makeup is not limited to the face since it goes down to the neck, collarbones, and sometimes even the stomach, with the idea of reproducing these sunburns by leaving the trace of the tank top or jewelry on the skin. The idea is to capture this natural redness and luminosity that comes after exposure to the sun, without the effects of UV rays. As a bonus: freckles made with an eyebrow pencil or felt-tip pen to complete the sun-kissed effect!
The Chinese edition of men’s magazine GQ started the trend by posting photos on Instagram pictures of models announcing summer and high temperatures, sometimes so high that they cause sunburn.
“This makeup is of exceptional quality, oh my god”, “Why not mention the makeup artist, I need to know how he did it?”, we can read in the comments. A photoshoot that did not go unnoticed and was quickly taken up on TikTok.
