  • SAS on target with reconstruction: “New era”

SAS is on target with its reconstruction, both in Sweden and in the USA.

“This begins a new era for SAS,” the airline writes in a press release.

The company describes the whole thing as a successful process that gives strength for the future.

“The company comes out of this as a competitive and financially robust airline, with a strengthened capital structure and with a dedicated and experienced management,” the company claims.

Together with the companies in the alliance that SAS is now moving to, from Star Alliance to Skyteam, the company also has something new and attractive to offer customers, it says.

SAS has been involved in a bankruptcy protection process, a so-called chapter 11 procedure at a bankruptcy court in the United States. In order to pass it successfully, a number of conditions had to be met, including that the Swedish company restructuring was completed. In June, SAS said that it hoped to be able to finish during the summer.

In October last year, new owners were announced for SAS, which previously had the Danish and Swedish states as major owners. Denmark remains among the major owners, alongside, among others, the aviation giant Air France-KLM.

  • Two dead at an airport in the United States – aircraft tires exploded

Two people have died and one has been injured at Atlanta International Airport after the tire of a Delta Air plane exploded, reports Sky News.

The airline will now investigate the accident together with local authorities.

“The Delta family is devastated by the loss of two employees and the injury of one following an incident this morning at the Atlanta Technical Maintenance Facility,” Delta wrote in a statement and continued:

“Our support goes to relatives and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.”

  • Postponed Postponed – again

Space X’s Polaris Dawn mission was scheduled to launch Tuesday morning, but was delayed a day due to a helium leak.

Now it is postponed again due to bad weather conditions, the company signs X.

The trip is supposed to be the first in which people who are not astronauts do a spacewalk, reports CNN.

There are four people on board: Billionaire Jared Isaacman, who made a private space flight as early as 2021. The others are his friend Scott Poteet, who has a long-standing background as a fighter pilot, and two engineers from Space X, Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon.

The Space X postponement will now take place on Thursday, August 30 at the earliest.

  • Alarm about armed man in hospital in Australia

A hospital in Queensland, Australia, was put on “lockdown” after an alarm about a gunman in the building, reports The Australian.

Police rushed to the scene at 11.20 local time.

“The police have located a man and there is no threat,” says a police spokesperson.

Soon after, the barriers could be lifted.

  • Four-year-old broke stuffed animals at museum

The Hecht Museum in Haifa, Israel, has a tradition of exhibiting certain objects without protective glass or barriers.

And the management certifies that it will continue that way – despite an incident that has now become world news.

A valuable Bronze Age vase, around 3,500 years old, shattered when a four-year-old boy accidentally knocked it over.

    – He pulled it a little. He was curious about what was inside it, says the boy’s father to the BBC.

No reprimands or repayment claims are pending, according to the Hecht Museum. Instead, the boy and his family have been invited to a guided return visit.

The vase will now be restored by a specially trained conservator. The boy’s father is relieved by the news, but tells the BBC that it “still won’t be the same”.

  • Israel carries out attacks in the West Bank

Israel’s military has carried out attacks in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

“Security forces have now launched attacks to counter terrorism in Jenin and Tulkarm,” military spokesman Avichay Adraee and Israel’s security police Shin Bet write in a joint statement.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health says two men, aged 25 and 39, have been killed by Israeli forces in Jenin.

The violence in the West Bank has escalated in step with the war in Gaza. More than 640 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers since the war began on October 7, according to an estimate made by the AFP news agency.

At least 19 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks during the same period, according to Israeli officials.

  • Three injured in knife fight – being investigated as attempted murder

On Tuesday evening, a passer-by alerted the police after seeing a fight outside a grill in Kungälv.

    – This case is quite unclear. But there must have been a fight where a knife was used, says police spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg.

Three men are now being treated in hospital.

    – They have different degrees of damage. All three are both plaintiffs and suspects in the case at the moment, says Thomas Fuxborg.

How serious their injuries are is unclear. The incident is now being investigated as attempted murder.

    – There are also other people who have been on the scene that we would like to get in touch with, says Fuxborg.

The site has been cordoned off for technical investigation.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her partner Tim Walz will appear for a joint interview. It will be Harris’ first since she was nominated as the party’s candidate in the presidential election.

Republicans have repeatedly criticized Kamala Harris for not agreeing to an interview since Joe Biden dropped out nearly five weeks ago. She has only answered occasional questions from reporters in connection with campaign meetings, and she has not held a press conference.

The interview will be broadcast at 03:00 Friday night, Swedish time, on CNN.

The indictment against Donald Trump in the case of tampering with the 2020 US election has been amended, Reuters reports.

This after the Supreme Court decided during the summer that Trump enjoys immunity from prosecution for “public acts” during his time as president.

“The new indictment, which was presented to a grand jury that had not previously seen the evidence in the case, reflects the efforts of the authorities to respect and implement the ruling of the Supreme Court,” write the prosecutors.

  • The government raises the limit for state income tax

The government raises the limit for state income tax, reports Echo.

According to the new budget, the new limit will be SEK 53,590 a month.

Last year, the Tidö parties paused an increase and referred to the high inflation.

Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) tells the channel that it is obvious to make an automatic increase.

    – Whether you have had blue, red or other governments, it is common to let different indexings run. For example, Magdalena Andersson has done this before, so this is not something strange, but what we did last year, with a very brutally high inflation, and where the breaking point was written up so much, we chose to make sure that everyone got a tax cut. But it was temporary.

  • Trump confirms: Stands up for debate

Donald Trump confirms that he will participate in the presidential debate on September 10 on the ABC channel.

“I have agreed with the radical left-wing democrats about a debate with Kamala Harris,” he writes on X.

At the same time, Trump sends a boot to the channel that will broadcast the debate.

“It will be broadcast live on ABC FAKE NEWS, by far the nastiest and most unfair news channel”.
