Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson died on Monday 26 August following an illness.

The legendary Swedish coach Sven-Göran Eriksson died on Monday, August 26 at the age of 76. The first foreign coach of the England national team, between 2001 and 2006. He notably coached Manchester City, Benfica Lisbon and Lazio. Last January, Sven-Göran Eriksson revealed that he had terminal, incurable pancreatic cancer. This announcement caused emotion in the world of football. The Liverpool club had notably made “his dream” come true by allowing him to coach the Reds during a charity match in March 2024.

A few days ago, the Swedish coach delivered a farewell message in the documentary dedicated to him by the platform Prime Video. “I think we all fear the day we die, but life is also death,” he said. “I hope that at the end of it, people will say, yes, he was a good man, but not everyone will say that. I hope you remember me as a positive man who tried to do everything he could do. Don’t be sorry, smile. Thank you for everything, the coaches, the players, the crowd, it was fantastic. Take care of yourself and your life. And live it.”
