Israel today imposed new evacuation orders for central Gaza. This complicates the UN’s aid operations.
The UN suspends its aid activities in the Gaza Strip. The reason is the evacuation orders given by Israel late on Sunday to the city of Deir al-Balah in the central part of the Gaza Strip.
According to a UN official who commented anonymously on the matter to Reuters, the evacuation orders make the organization’s aid activities impossible at least until Monday.
The UN source did not say exactly how Israel’s evacuation orders are hindering aid operations. According to the official, in addition to the needs of the population of Gaza, the UN must think about “the need for the safety of its personnel”.
Typically, Israel issues evacuation orders before military operations begin in the area designated to be evacuated.
According to the official, the UN has ordered its personnel on the ground in Gaza to find out ways in which aid activities could be continued.
The Gaza war has killed 40,435 people so far, the Gaza Ministry of Health, operating under the Hamas terrorist organization, said today.
