Henrik Lundqvist is one of Swedish hockey’s giants.
But now he makes an unexpected revelation.
“King Henrik” has started a completely new sport after his hockey career.
He is called “King Henrik” in the USA for a very good reason. Henrik Lundqvist is Swedish hockey’s best goaltender of all time and left a big mark in the NHL.
Lundqvist’s career
After the breakthrough in Frölunda, Lundqvist moved to North America and the New York Rangers. There he would achieve iconic status in the role of first goalie for many years, with over 1,000 NHL games and a Stanley Cup final as the best result.

It has been a few years since “Henke” was forced to end his hockey career due to a discovered heart defect. After the active goalkeeper career, the Swede has remained in the USA and worked as a TV expert at TNT.
Found a new sport
Now he will also work together with his twin brother Joel Lundqvist in a joint collaboration with a clothing company.
– Yes, we are both in a place now where we can do more things, and travel more. During his career, he was – apart from the summers – more locked up. We appreciate every opportunity we get to just hang out. It’s not something we take for granted, but it’s always just as wonderful, says Henrik to Dagens Nyheter about filming a commercial in Åre together with Joel.
– That’s where we come from, and you get a nice feeling when you think back on the years in Åre and the security you felt when you grew up there. So being there with Joel was very rewarding.

Henke Lundqvist has also found a new passion in everyday life and a completely new sport after his hockey career.
– I love that I am back in skiing again after 20 years. Something that was not possible before due to the risk of injury. It gives me such immense satisfaction, yes a peace. I usually say that it’s good for the soul to be up on the mountain, he says to the daily newspaper and gets his brother’s agreement.
– I agree with what Henrik says about skiing. But overall, we are an active family that likes to move around, adds Joel Lundqvist.
