Hezbollah: The revenge attack went according to plan | News in brief

The supreme leader of the extremist organization Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, claims that the organization’s large-scale rocket and drone attack on Israel went according to plan.

The top leader of the extremist organization Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah claims that the organization’s massive rocket and drone attack on Israel went according to plan.

In a televised speech, Nasrallah denied that Israel’s attacks on Lebanon had prevented Hezbollah from carrying out a larger attack.

Earlier on Sunday, Israel attacked Lebanon with about a hundred fighter jets. It says it carried out the attack “preemptively” after discovering that Hezbollah was preparing a large-scale attack on Israel. Israel says it has destroyed thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers.

Nasrallah claims that the Israeli military began bombing Lebanon just half an hour before Hezbollah’s own operation began, and that the targets Israel bombed had nothing to do with it. Nasrallah also claims that instead of thousands of targets, Israel had destroyed only dozens of launch pads.

According to the Hezbollah leader, the target of the organization was an army base near Tel Aviv. Nasrallah denies that the attacks were aimed at Tel Aviv airport or other civilian infrastructure. In addition, Nasrallah says that Hezbollah sent drones for the first time from the Bekaa Valley, which is located about a hundred kilometers from the Israeli border.

According to the Israeli army, the base was not hit.

The US helped Israel track rockets and drones fired by Hezbollah, but did not shoot them down or participate in strikes on the Lebanese side. A US defense source tells news agency AFP about it.
