In Chad, agro-pastoral violence has reached unprecedented levels in the south and centre of the country during the transition period from 2021 to 2024. The International Crisis Group has recorded 1,230 deaths and more than 2,000 injuries during this period. According to the NGO, this outbreak of violence illustrates the long-standing tensions between the sedentary populations of the south and centre and the communities of the north. Tensions are now fuelled by climate change.
