A then hated superhero blockbuster that was then saved by Netflix

Marvel has not always been synonymous with billion-dollar box office success. The superhero blockbuster Daredevil, about the blind savior in a stylish leather outfit, was met with little enthusiasm by critics and audiences. Lead actor Ben Affleck hated him like the plague. Netflix relaunched the character with the unusual Marvel’s Daredevil series. Amazon Prime has the film in its program.

On Amazon Prime: Netflix turned the Marvel flop Daredevil into a unique series

The story of the Marvel pioneer sounds really exciting. The martial arts superhero Matt Murdock/Daredevil, who has been blinded by an accident, gets in the way of a professional killer (Colin Farrell) during an assassination attempt. The killer and his boss Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan) are on his heels from then on. And Elektra (Jennifer Garner) also makes a name for herself as the daughter of the attack victim. the heroes responsible for the death of their father.

When it was released, many critics accused the film of lacking innovation (via Rotten Tomatoes). The New York Times called it cheap and unnecessary“. It flopped at the box office (via Boxofficemojo). But that’s nothing compared to Ben Affleck’s disappointment.

He told Playboy:

The only movie I really regret is Daredevil. It kills me. I love this story, this character, and the fact that it was so messed up still bothers me. Maybe that was part of the motivation for playing Batman.Daredevil was reborn in two ways

The Daredevil chapter seemed to be buried. But Netflix took on the fallen Marvel hero twelve years later. In his own series The streamer created an innovative and unusual hard story about its main character (Charlie Cox). Although the series was canceled three years later, it rehabilitated its prestigious hero. On Disney+, this version of the Marvel hero will return in 2025 in the new series Daredevil: Born Again.
