McLaren’s Lando Norris will start tomorrow’s race from the first starting grid. Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas, who drove exemplary in the third practice, was 18th in qualifying.
McLaren’s Lando Norris was the fastest in qualifying and starts from the pole position for the Formula 1 Dutch competition. F1 series leader Red Bull Max Verstappen starts the race next to the British driver, from the second grid.
The pole position is the third for Norris this season, and he is aiming for the second victory of his career in Sunday’s race.
Australian McLaren team Oscar Piastri was third in qualifying and Mercedes George Russell fourth.
Three-time world champion Verstappen was left without a pole position in his home race for the first time since the Dutch race returned to the race calendar in 2021. The 26-year-old Verstappen has so far been undefeated in his home race.
In the second period of the time trials, as well as Mercedes Lewis Hamilton that of Ferrari Carlos Sainz were eliminated. Sainz was 11th in qualifying, Hamilton 12th.
He drove Sauber modelly in the third practice Valtteri Bottas was 18th in qualifying.
– The result is not pleasing, and neither is the feeling, Bottas lamented the weak balance of his car.
– Sometimes the car oversteers, sometimes it understeers. A new part is needed for the car if we want to be better at the end of the season.
Bottas is still aiming for his first points of the season in the World Series. Verstappen leads the World Series with 277 points, 78 points ahead of Norris. Monaco’s Charles Leclerc, who is third in the World Championship points, was sixth in the qualifying session at Zandvoort.
The Dutch competition is scheduled for tomorrow at 4 p.m.
