Kidnapping suspected after disturbing disappearance of restaurateur

Ange-Antoine Agnetti, a forty-year-old Corsican restaurateur, has not been seen for a week. This Thursday, a judicial investigation was opened for “kidnapping” and “sequestration”.

It has been a week since Ange-Antoine Agnetti, a 41-year-old Corsican restaurateur, gave no sign of life. He has not been seen since late last Friday afternoon when he reportedly went “fishing, hunting or for a walk”, according to his relatives with the authorities. He reportedly left on foot in the direction of Saint Marie Siché.

The next day, his relatives reported him missing. Citizen searches were then carried out to find him, but in vain. His car was discovered near the village of Campo, near paths very popular with hunters and fishermen in the region. Inside the vehicle was his mobile phone and his car keys were placed on one of the wheels.

On Sunday, an appeal for witnesses was launched by the police after several aerial searches with helicopters and drones as well as with mountain specialists and a dog team on the ground, but they were all unsuccessful. An investigation was then opened for a worrying disappearance. According to the description of the police, the restaurateur is 1m70 tall, weighs 80 kilos and has brown hair. He was wearing shorts, a t-shirt, a black fanny pack and sneakers on the day of his disappearance. He is not known to the justice system, “but his environment is”, according to a police source with France Blue.

The kidnapping trail now favored

Following investigations with “witness interviews, vehicle searches and search operations”, as specified by the prosecution, the investigation was reclassified as “kidnapping” and “sequestration” with the opening of a judicial inquiry this Thursday.

“A judicial investigation against unknown persons has been opened on charges of arrest, kidnapping, sequestration or arbitrary detention without release before the seventh day and participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing a crime.”, revealed Anthony Garcia, the deputy prosecutor of Ajaccio, to Corsica MorningThe investigations are now in the hands of an investigating judge.
