(Telestock) – Train punctuality is increasing and in particular today, Thursday 22 August. According to a survey by Trenitalia (number of travellers) and RFI (punctuality) at 5pm today, 489,000 passengers traveled with Trenitalia and more than 9 out of 10 trains, including High Speed (97.2%) and Intercity (93.2%), arrived on time. The data – as reported on FS News.it – took into account the longer travel times of the High Speed trains in the sections affected by the construction sites and already reported in the phase of purchase of tickets. Also for regional transport, 94.2% of the trains arrived on time or within 5 minutes.
They are proceeding according to the schedule also the maintenance and development works of the network and stations. Currently there are about 1,400 active construction sites, with total investments for the August works of about 650 million euros. Yesterday, August 21, the construction site on the Milan-Bologna AV was concluded, while tomorrow, August 23, the works on the Direttissima R will be concludedoma-Florence which are involving the extraordinary maintenance of the viaduct over the Paglia river on the Chiusi Nord-Orvieto Sud section.
