Postcard sent in Wales in 1903 delivered 121 years later

The postcard, thought to have been sent for Christmas, features a green stamp with the painting “The Challenge” by 19th-century English painter Edwin Henry Landseer and a portrait of Edward VII, who reigned from 1901 to 1910. It was stated that the postcard was sent by a person named Ewart to a person named Lydia Davies.

Swansea Building Society’s Marketing and Communications Officer Henry Darby said they were investigating Lydia Davies, to whom the postcard was sent, and that they wanted to deliver it to her surviving relatives. Darby said they thought they could reach out to someone who knew Davies or her relatives by sharing the postcard on social media.

Andrew Dully from the West Glamorgan Archives stated that he had identified a man named John F. Davies as living at the address in question with his wife Maria and six children, and said, “The eldest of the children was Lydia. She was 16 when this postcard was sent.” (İHA)This content was published by Metin Yamaner
