Armand Duplantis is by far the world’s best pole vaulter.
Now he has also been joined by the icon Ingemar Stenmark.

Earlier this week did Ingemar Stenmark acclaimed debut at the veteran WC in Gothenburg. The 68-year-old has taken a liking to pole vaulting in the autumn of his age and after a few months of training, he stepped straight into the WC.
Stenmark’s success
“Stenis” attracted large audiences and put on a good show. The alpine legend, who is one of Swedish sports’ greatest heroes ever, impressed and cleared 3.00 meters.

Which is a new season best for Stenmark, who finished in tenth place. Clearly exceeded expectations when he started pole vaulting as late as last year.
Duplanti’s Tribute
The world’s currently best pole vaulter is really impressed by Ingemar. Armand Duplantis now pays a powerful tribute to the veteran who has joined him in the same sport.
– It’s just wonderful! I love pole vaulting and I hope that there will be more and more people who want to try the sport, says “Mondo” to SVT.

Duplantis has been training with Stenmark ahead of the veteran WC and he really likes what he sees in the 68-year-old.
– He is a beginner, but you can see how naturally the sport comes to him. It’s a nice jump and it will only get better and better. It feels like he has everything needed, says Armand to the TV channel.
