With Michael Keaton in the role of the titular, cheeky poltergeist, Beetlejuice became one of director Tim Burton’s biggest cult films. 36 years later, a sequel is soon coming to the cinemawhich, in addition to the original stars such as Keaton and Winona Ryder, also features well-known names such as Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega.

Recently, Ortega spoke about the professional relationship between her and co-star Winona Ryder during a press conference, which was also attended by AdoroCinema. The actress appeared in the first Beetlejuice film as a teenager Lydia Deetz included:
I think it was three days of shooting. Winona and I sat down and finally had time to have a real conversation. It all happened so fast. But when we started talking, we just didn’t move. It felt like hours. And then we went to her house or she came to mine. And we didn’t touch our phones, we didn’t go to the bathroom, we didn’t drink water, nothing. We just couldn’t stop. It’s really hard to be related to Winona Ryder because she’s so cool and easygoing. And Lydia is such a popular character that I think it was a natural pressure to be related to her in some way.

When does Beetlejuice Beetlejuice come to theaters?
The sequel to the Tim Burton cult film will be released 12 September 2024 in German cinemas. Shortly before that, the sequel will celebrate its world premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival. Moviepilot will be there and give you a first impression of Beetlejuice 2.
