Russia has shot down ten Ukrainian drones aimed at Moscow, the city’s mayor says.
“This is one of the biggest attempts to attack Moscow with drones ever,” writes mayor Sergey Sobyanin on Telegram.
No injuries or deaths have been reported following the attack, according to Sobyanin.
Drone attacks on Moscow are rare. The most recent was in May when Russia said it shot down a drone outside the capital, prompting restrictions to be imposed on two major airports in the city for over an hour.
The attack takes place at the same time as the ongoing Ukrainian offensive on Russian soil, where Ukraine claims to have taken control of a number of Russian territories.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is ending his latest round of shuttle diplomacy in the Middle East, where he tried to put pressure on the parties to bring about a ceasefire in the Gaza war.
The foreign minister, who previously said that the talks may be the “last chance”, emphasized again that time may be short.
– With each passing day, more bad things can happen to good people who don’t deserve it, Blinken said before leaving Qatar.
A 35-year-old man was badly beaten on Tuesday evening outside the central station in Falköping.
The police were alerted just after 10 pm and during the night were able to arrest two men aged 25.
They are suspected of attempted murder or aggravated assault, and the police have an ongoing effort to arrest more people.
– The man has received quite serious injuries from several different attacks. He was awake when he was taken to hospital by ambulance. We have not been able to interrogate him yet, says Morten Gunneng, police officer on duty.
According to the police, it is unclear whether the perpetrators and the victim were previously acquainted.
– We know nothing about the motive, says Morten Gunneng.
A woman in her 90s in Huddinge was called by a person claiming to represent a postal company and saying that they needed her credit card code.
According to the police, the caller pestered so intensely that the woman gave out her account details.
The caller then says he will come to the woman’s house in a moment to “replace” her card.
The woman called the police who went to her address.
Once the fraudster arrives at the woman’s home, the police can arrest the person on suspicion of begging.

An overloaded passenger boat has capsized in Congo-Kinshasa. At least 20 people died in connection with the accident in the western part of the country. The sinking in the Lukenie River was probably caused by the wooden boat colliding with logs.
Around 300 passengers were on board the boat, which was also fully loaded with goods and luggage.
– Yesterday four bodies were found and today we found another 16, says the head of the authority Jacques Nzenza in the Kutu region.
Accidents occur repeatedly on the important transport routes that the rivers form. Authorities have, for example, prohibited seafarers from traveling at night.
The search for additional victims will continue Wednesday, according to Nenza.
Several horses run loose on national highway 23 at the height of Östanå.
The alarm was received by the police at 9 p.m.
People on site try to catch the horses.
Police and the horse owner are on their way to the scene.
Update 21.45: The horses are captured.
An 85-year-old woman has died in a car accident in Vilhelmina.
The accident happened at 12 o’clock on Tuesday outside Saxnäs.
No other images were involved. The police will investigate the accident.

This is stated by the vice-presidential candidate Nicole Shanahan for CNBC.

The police and emergency services were alerted to a ground fire in Haninge municipality.
In connection with the fire scene, the police can arrest a person who is suspected of having caused the fire.
The person is suspected of serious damage, arson and public negligence.

UN reporters accuse Iran of denying Nobel laureate and human rights activist Narges Mohammadi access to essential medical care. The criticism comes after Mohammadi was assaulted in the Evin security prison where she is being held.
Mohammadi was subjected to “physical violence” and is said to have “lost consciousness and suffered injuries to ribs and other parts of the body” earlier in August, according to the experts who report to the UN Human Rights Council, but who are not the UN’s suit.
“We are deeply concerned about Mohammadi’s physical and mental well-being, which has been communicated to the Iranian government,” the reporters write.
“Once again, we call on Iran to immediately release her, and to provide her with full medical assistance.”
Mohammadi has been imprisoned since the fall of 2021, and has previously been deprived of liberty in rounds.
She was awarded the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize for her work for women’s rights in Iran, and for criticizing the Iranian state’s violent and repressive practices.
Two cars are involved in a traffic accident on the E18 near Östra Fågelvik.
– Two cars have driven into each other’s guardrail. They have not joined and collided with each other, says Lars Hedelin, the police’s press officer.
No injuries have been reported.
The accident affects traffic in both directions.
The man who fled on foot after his motorcycle overturned in Vänersborg has been arrested.
It was on Tuesday afternoon that the pursuit began after two people traveling on a motorcycle failed to stop for a police patrol’s stop sign. After a short pursuit, the motorcycle overturned and one of the people ran from the scene. The other, a 35-year-old man, was arrested by the police.
– Initially it was for suspected drunk driving, says police spokesperson Peter Adlersson to TT.
During the arrest, however, a backpack was found with a gun-like object as well as another suspected dangerous object, which has now been examined and taken care of by the National Bomb Squad.
According to the police, the object has been assessed as sharp. It has now been rendered harmless and will be transported away by the National Bomb Squad.
The man in his 30s who strayed from the scene and was searched with, among other things, a dog and a helicopter, has now been arrested in another part of Vänersborg. Both men are suspected of serious weapons offenses and preparation for public destruction.
On Tuesday, a hunt was carried out for a stolen jet ski in Mariefred.
A resident of Mariefred had called the police and reported that there had been a burglary in the garage and that a jet ski had been stolen.
Fortunately, there was a tracking device on the vehicle that made it possible to follow the theft route – along the E4 towards Södertälje.
The police stopped a car with the jet ski on a trailer near Nykvarn and seized the jet ski.
The driver was detained and suspected of grand theft.
