Armand Duplantis has been able to juggle with a pole vault for several years, and he showed it this summer when he won Olympic gold in Paris. Now the alpine legend steps Ingemar Stenmark into the world of pole vaulting as he competes in the Veteran World Championships.
Rewarded with a golden car
After the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Armand Duplantis has enjoyed a little vacation in Greece. When he came home from Greece, he got together with the star swimmer Sarah Sjostrom receive a gold car each from a sponsor.

Ingemar Stenmark’s life after his career
In 1989, Ingemar Stenmark ended his skiing career and since then he has appeared as an expert in the TV box during the Olympics, won “Let’s Dance” on TV4 and “Mästarnas mästaren” on SVT.

Competing in the veteran WC
Ingemar Stenmark has previously proven that he likes new challenges, and now he does it again. The WC in athletics for veterans was organized in Gothenburg. In this WC, Ingemar Stenmark participated in the pole vault.
In the clip below, Stenmark can be seen reaching a height of 3.02 meters.
Mondo comments on the relationship with Stenmark
In an interview with The evening paper Mondo has commented on the relationship with Ingemar Stenmark.
– We have met in recent months and have talked a lot. I usually train after him in the hall in Sollentuna. I’ve looked around quite a bit, we’ve said that I’ll take part in a training session, but it hasn’t worked out. Sure, I’ve given some advice, but I can’t think of anything concrete now. I don’t think he has dared to ask that much, but I am one hundred percent willing to help him more.

Mondo fills in:
– It’s really cool and feels wonderful that he will start at the veteran WC. I don’t think it’s his last competition either. It’s great for the sport of pole vaulting that I love so much. It’s obvious that he thinks it’s fun and is interested. It’s insanely impressive how fit and athletic he still is at his age. It’s almost crazy, he has the same vertical as me from the plank.
Could it be that Stenmark might have been inspired by Mondo’s achievements lately?
