With debts lingering and an inability to say no when others ask for help, the situation has now become truly acute. Currently, Mia needs to borrow money every month from loved ones to cope with everyday life.

Mia lives with debt settlement and managed it well, but in the last year she has taken on new debts. The chance for debt settlement is given once in a lifetime, something that lasts for five years and then the remaining debts are written off. Now Mia is afraid that she will lose the debt settlement.

But where does all the money actually go? Magdalena Kowalczyk pulls out the big budget board to sort it all out. SEK 27,400 is on the table, and a large proportion goes to accommodation, food and transport. Under the category “other” are the costs of cigarettes, energy drinks, subscriptions and other pleasures. This item lands at a staggering 12,900, while 9,900 kroner is placed under the loan category. This means that Mia goes back SEK 20,300 every month, something that causes Mia to burst into tears.

– Scrapping away the debt settlement… I’m panicking. My stomach hurts. I’m ruining my life and my children’s, says Mia.

The debt settlement is now hanging on a tenuous thread, and Magdalena Kowalczyk confronts Mia about her expenses and the new debts she has incurred. Within the framework of the granted debt restructuring, debts of almost SEK 600,000 can be accommodated. In addition to that, Mia has a bunch of other debts, and at the same time she has a bad idea of what she does with her money.

Every month, Mia spends 1,000 on takeaway food, and 3,400 on entertainment such as chips, sweets, cigarettes, games, nails and energy drinks. SEK 3,200 is also added to furniture, clothing and car-related purchases.
– I have been stupid. I haven’t thought about it. I just kept going and believed that everything would work out. I am ashamed that it has gone so far that I myself have applied to Lyxfällan to get help with my finances, says Mia.

Mia has to pay off debt urgently – forced to sell stuff
If Mia loses her debt settlement, she risks being in debt for the rest of her life. Now Mia needs to get money in quickly, and it is important to sell as much as possible.

In addition to various electronic gadgets in the home, Mia’s son has also agreed to sell his Lego. In total, Mia manages to sell things for 26,000 kroner, but there is still a large amount of money that must be covered.
