Elon Musk, Donald Trump’s future minister? The former American president could give him a position

Elon Musk Donald Trumps future minister The former American president

Donald Trump said on August 19 that he would be willing to give Elon Musk a senior position if he wins the November presidential election.

Donald Trump assured Reuters this Monday, August 19, on the sidelines of a trip to Pennsylvania, that he was ready to offer a position of responsibility to Elon Musk if he were re-elected President of the United States next November. Asked whether he would consider appointing the Tesla boss to an advisor or ministerial position, he responded in the affirmative: “He is a very intelligent man. I would certainly do it, if he wanted it.”

An answer that did not fall on deaf ears. On X, Elon Musk said he was “ready to serve”. In this image, he shows himself at the head of a ministry responsible for “government efficiency”. A position that refers to the English acronym “Doge”, a reference to an internet meme.

This statement does not come as a big surprise. In an interview with Donald Trump by Elon Musk last week on X, the owner of Space X had already seemed to be a candidate for a position in the Trump administration, if the latter were elected in November. He had said that he would like to take part in a commission that would “ensure that taxpayers’ money is spent wisely”. An enticing proposition for the former head of state who had then complimented his interlocutor: “You are the best cost-cutter,” he said, referring to the waves of layoffs at X.

The two billionaires very close

During the exchange, their closeness did not go unnoticed. “I think we are at a turning point in the fate of civilization and I think we need to take the right path. And I think you are the right path,” the boss of X had said during the interview. Elon Musk had allowed Donald Trump to develop his campaign themes, some of which were well approved of by the boss of X. Donald Trump had notably assured that if he were re-elected, he would set up “the largest deportation in history.” Elon Musk had not failed to add another layer: “We have people flocking in like it’s a zombie apocalypse.”

While he was previously on the side of Barack Obama and then Joe Biden, the Tesla boss now claims to be a major supporter of Donald Trump, especially since the assassination attempt on the latter in July. Their rapprochement seems increasingly obvious, but how far will it go? The result of the presidential election in November could be decisive.
