Bodies of six dead people held hostage by Hamas in Gaza have been returned to Israel, Israeli media reports.
According to Israel’s military, a “rescue operation” was carried out in the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis on Tuesday night, when the bodies were found and later brought back to Israel.
The dead are said to have been found in a tunnel in the city. Authorities estimate that one person may have died as early as March, reports the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the country will continue to do “everything they can to bring back the hostages – both the living and the dead,” according to the newspaper.
A relative of one of the dead hostages tells the Israeli radio station Radio 103FM that the Israeli government has blood on its hands.
– For (Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu’s survival, my uncle died. Get all the hostages out alive now, he tells the channel.
Around 250 people were taken hostage by terrorist-branded Hamas during their attack on Israel last October. Of those, around 100 are estimated to still remain in Gaza after about the same number were released and a few more rescued. However, many who remain are feared to be no longer alive.

The six-minute long television feature is about, among other things, disarmament on Åland and a visit by President Alexander Stubb.
Kalle Kniivilä, a Russia expert, believes that the feature is a classic case of propaganda television.
– It’s a fairly typical element that mixes truth, half-truth and possibly some lies as well, he says to Åland radio.

The Swedish Transport Agency’s cameras that are available to the public are located throughout the country.
On the authority’s website, it says that “current image is missing” for those who want to see the traffic situation via the cameras.
– Our technicians are now checking what happened and trying to fix the problem, says Angelica Knutsson, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration.
Internally, the authority uses a different system that is not affected by the disturbances.
– This is a service we have so that you can see the traffic situation and this means that the public cannot see what it looks like on the roads, says Angelica Knutsson.

Not in 21 years have there been as few children born in Sweden as in the first half of 2024. Stock image. Photo: Christine Olsson, Henrik Montgomery/TT
During the first half of 2024, the population increased by 1,600 people.
It is the lowest population increase measured in Sweden during six months in the 2000s, Statistics Sweden states.
The population in Sweden has steadily increased in recent decades. In comparison, the number of Swedes increased by over 50,000 per year in the years 2016-2019. In 2023, we became almost 25,000 more Swedes.
Now population growth is slowing down.
During the first six months of the year, 50,500 children were born in Sweden, the lowest number of births in the first half of the year in 21 years. The reduction compared to the same period last year is two percent.
“In recent years and the first half of 2024, fewer children have been born than in previous years, but the low population increase in 2024 is mainly due to the increase in the number of people registered as emigrants,” says Ann-Marie Persson, population statistician at SCBSee more

A moved Joe Biden has taken his place on the stage in Chicago, where the jubilation does not want to end. When the president finally speaks, he begins by paying tribute to his family, in particular the first lady of the United States, Jill Biden, who “still makes the heart beat”.
– My father used to say that the family is the beginning, the middle and the end. I love you all. And America: I love you, says the president.
– Let me ask you: Are you ready to vote for freedom, democracy and America? Are you ready to choose Kamala Harris and Tim Walz?
The crowd chants alternately “We love Joe”, alternately “Thank you, Joe!”

There are a plethora of skin cancer mobile apps, but knowing how reliable they are can be difficult. Archive image. Photo: Skåne University Hospital
Take a picture and get answers about whether the stain you’re worried about is dangerous. A growing number of mobile apps promise quick and easy analysis of skin spots with artificial intelligence.
But knowing if the app is really reliable is not entirely easy. This is shown by a new study led by Åsa Ingvar, dermatologist at Skåne University Hospital and researcher at Lund University.
The researchers have reviewed 21 different mobile apps for the analysis of skin spots that are offered by app services in Australia, but which are of the same type as those available for download in Sweden, according to Åsa Ingvar.
None of the apps met the labeling recommendations developed by specialist medical societies.
– That makes it difficult to understand whether you can trust the results or not, she says.
Previous research has shown that the accuracy of many skin cancer apps is low. There can be problems when the AI has to analyze images that it has not been trained on, for example taken with a different camera or on a person with a different skin type.
