That’s why you shouldn’t have honey in tea
When you are sick, you are often told to drink tea with honey in it. But you shouldn’t do that, if you want to get all the good out of the honey.
Namely, honey should not be heated above 40 degrees. If honey gets hotter than that, the enzymes and health-promoting substances in the honey are destroyed, writes the Finnish Beekeepers’ Association.
However, only a small amount of enzymes have time to be destroyed if you put a spoonful of honey in hot tea.
