The Swedish national ski team’s team organization is being redone again.
The lack of continuity creates problems for several star skaters.
– It’s always tough when one’s breeder quits. Especially now that I have my third gelding in three years, says Linn Svahn.
Last week, Sweden’s head of the polling station presented Anders Svanebo its new organization with four new steers. Among other things, the star wall is replaced Perry Olsson who surprisingly was not offered a new contract after last season.
Several skaters have lost their personal trainers, who for them often mean as much as the coach.
Jonna Sundling describes the relationship with Perry Olsson:
– He has been a very important piece of the puzzle and has helped me along the way in a way that no one else has done before.
Linn Svahn’s concern
Jonna Sundling says that she was disappointed when Olsson quit. Now she begins the collaboration with her new sire, Karl Edenroth.
– We will meet in two weeks in Torsby to test skis, check the ski park, check my technique, see how we should herd and how he should attach. I have landed in the fact that I feel safe in it, says Sundling.

Frida Karlsson and Lynn Svahn this year gets its third gelding in three years after Mats Eklund and Larry Poromaa. Now shall Mattias Berglund shepherd their skis.
Svahn says it’s a change:
– It’s always tough when steers leave, especially when it’s my third steer in three years. It’s tough to change and get in sync with each other.
How do you proceed in that work?
– It’s not like someone has died. You have to have that perspective. But you are very tight with your sire, says Svahn and admits that a lot will depend on her if the collaboration with the new sire is to work:
– What I can influence is to open up and give the part I need for us to have a good relationship and a good collaboration. I am very confident that it will be good.

Linn Svahn points out that the new herd organization faces challenges:
– It is very new for them with the fluorine-free and it is new for us that it can fluctuate a lot. It is necessary to be sharp and can make some bold decisions sometimes. I’ve been trying to be pretty cool and go with the flow.
