Janne Andersson has been without a job since he left the Swedish national team in November 2023, after failing to qualify for the European Championship.
The information from the Nigerian site Scorenigeria claims that Janne Andersson will take over the Nigerian national team. According to the site, the 61-year-old gets the job ahead of candidates such as: Herve Renard, Eric Chelle, Tom Saintfiet and Steve McClaren.
The Guardian does not believe that Andersson is finished, but writes that the Swede can take over “The Super Eagles” as Herve Renard’s salary claim was too high.
The last Swedish national team captain to rule over Nigeria’s national team was Lars Lagerbäck in 2010.
Janne Andersson was the Swedish national team captain for seven years, before that he coached among others IFK Norrköping (which he led to SM gold in 2016) and Halmstad.
SVT Sport is looking for Janne Andersson.
