Vietnam’s new leader and president, To Lam, is in Beijing on August 18 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping for a three-day state visit. This is the first foreign visit for To Lam, who was sworn in earlier this month to succeed his predecessor Nguyen Phu Trong who died two weeks earlier at the age of 80. An official trip focused on trade and strengthening bilateral relations.
