Ideal American Horror Story replacement: That’s what Grotesquerie is about
Ryan Murphy created the new horror series together with Jon Robin Baitz (Feud) and Joe Backen (American Horror Stories) for the channel FX, which is also the US home of American Horror Story. After the first teaser, it is almost surprising that Grotesquerie was not chosen for the 13th season of the horror anthology.
At the centre of Grotesquerie is a gruesome and cruel series of murdersthat shakes a small American town. Detective Lois Tryon (Dahmer star Niecy Nash-Betts) takes on the case, which makes her increasingly believe that evil is swallowing up humanity. She receives unexpected support in her investigation from the nun reporter Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), who has not yet given up her belief in the good in people.
“Something is happening around us. Nobody sees it but me“, is Detective Tryon’s ominous conclusion about the gruesome incidents in her town. Are the religiously inspired murders perhaps the harbingers of an apocalypse? The teaser does not reveal that yet. But with images of Crucifixes, nuns, cut open bodies and hellish omens It seems that Grotesquerie is a truly nightmarish series trip that awaits us.
