40 sheep killed – owner suspects wolf attack

The discovery was made on Friday evening during the daily inspection of the sheep, which grazed at Svartån. Of the 47 sheep, eleven were found alive but eight were in poor condition and had to be euthanized by a veterinarian. Three sheep are missing.

– Several sheep had escaped into the water. One lay dead on the other side of the beach. It feels quite empty right now, says animal owner Annelie Näsström, who believes the attack happened the night before.

She says the farm has not had problems with predators before. There is a five-wire electric fence around the paddock.

– We have documented the damage we have seen and a final assessment is then made by case officers at the county administrative board, says Nathalie Kindbladh, wildlife officer at the county administrative board in Uppsala, who was there with two people from the county administrative board in Västmanland.
