It all started when an opposition politician demanded that a member of the Turkish Workers’ Party imprisoned for his protests against the government should be released and given his seat in parliament.
The speaker launched a fierce attack on the ruling party. Then a member from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s party had enough. He stormed forward and attacked the politician in the middle of the speech.
Then the fight started and at most about fifty members were involved.
It went on for several minutes and the parliament had to be adjourned for 45 minutes for emotions to cool down and for the bloodstains on the floor to be wiped away.
