The fires spread to Turkey’s third largest city, Izmir, fanned by strong winds.

Widespread evacuations have been launched in the Aegean resort of Izmir, Turkey, after wildfires spread to a residential area of ​​the city.

According to the authorities, the fires have damaged at least 16 buildings. Minister of Agriculture Ibrahim Yumakli in turn said that at least 87 houses and 44 businesses and offices were ordered to be evacuated due to the impending fires.

The fires that started on Thursday spread to Turkey’s third largest city, fanned by strong winds.

Fire brigade units from other cities have been sent to Izmir and the army has also been mobilized to put out the fires.
