Demi Moore returns to the cinemas with a bang this year. In The Substance she falls Pressure of sexist beauty images and demands and therefore resorts to a mysterious miracle cure. However, this brings with it some scary and funny consequences, which are hinted at in the new, long trailer.

The horror film with Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley tells of a duel to the death
Elizabeth (Demi Moore) became famous as an actress and fitness goddess à la Jane Fonda, but the station bosses think she should be sidelined. In order to keep up with the competition and the demands of her sexist producers, she orders the mysterious “substance”. It is supposed to give her youth.
This works, but in a roundabout way. After taking the drug, a younger, more perfect version of her emerges, looking suspiciously like Margaret Qualley. She calls herself Sue and is immediately discovered as the next TV star. But as always with such stories, there is a catch: every seven days one of the two has to fall asleep while the other lives. Problems are inevitable.
The Substance won an award at Cannes
The double body horror produces disturbing results in The Substance that are hard to imagine beforehand (read more in the spoiler-free Cannes reaction to The Substance). At the press screening in Cannes, there were groans about the wonderfully disgusting hand-made effects, but also a lot of laughter and applause.
In the end, The Substance was awarded the prize for best screenplay in the competition of the prestigious festival.
