The old tentacle face from Destiny 2 is known for its exotic and curious goods, but before its rework it was considered almost useless. Now there is another change and it will especially please the god roll hunters among you.
What does Bungie have planned? Bungie plans to roll out a new update on August 20, 2024. Patch 8.5.0.2 will refresh the range of Xur, the black market trader. The reason for this is the exotic class items that players can currently farm with difficulty from the Pale Heart of the Traveler. With the update, Xur should also be able to sell these items from now on, and for just 41 Strange Coins. (via bungie.net)
Note that Xur is only guaranteed to offer the Exotic class items during the week of August 20th. After that, it is purely random whether Xur will have them with him the next time you visit. You must also have completed the Destiny Duel mission with your Guardian once, otherwise you can only purchase one Exotic Cipher for 71 coins per account.
Xur will soon become the best dealer
Why is Xur really worth it now? Previously, Xur only offered a few armors, weapons, and Exos that players could then purchase with Legendary Shards. After his major rework, players can farm the iconic currency “Strange Coins” and spend them with him.
Coins can still be used to purchase weapons, Exos, and armor. Additionally, the vendor now has a progression system that rewards players who spend a lot of coins. On top of that, two random catalysts for Exo weapons are being added to the range so you no longer have to rely on the RNG, which is often unfair.
Last but not least, you can purchase random engrams from him to, with a bit of luck, obtain materials or cheap blue items.
The armor and weapon rolls may still not be the best, but the fact that the exotic vendor now finally has a lot more for sale than before his rework makes a visit much more worthwhile now.
You should also know: For those who don’t know yet and want to complete their blueprint collection – if you have enough Strange Coins on hand, then buy the engrams from Xur that equip you with weapons. With a bit of luck, they’ll drop old seasonal weapons, and even with a red frame. That way you don’t have to force yourself to do activities that are in the current rotation.
