The permanto final of the Paris Olympics in trapeze gymnastics ended in Brazil Rebecca Andrade to the party the superstar of the United States By Simone Biles remaining on silver, but the fate of the bronze medal is still being twisted.
American gymnast Jordan Chiles namely had to return his bronze medal at the behest of the International Olympic Committee.
This was due to an initial appeal by the United States, when it demanded that Chiles’ points be reviewed as he was fifth. The judges increased Chiles’ score to 13.766, initially lifting the American to bronze and dropping the Romanian Ana Barbosun fourth.
The Romanian Gymnastics Federation appealed to the International Court of Appeal for Sports (CAS).
According to CAS, the jury acted improperly and should not have heard the US appeal, as the appeal period had already expired. According to CAS, the appeal was made four seconds too late, when there is one minute left to score points.
Following CAS’ decision, the International Gymnastics Federation reinstated Chiles’ scores, returning the Romanian to third.
1. Rebeca Andrade BRA 14.166 points
2. Simone Biles USA 14.133 points
3. Ana Barbosu ROM 13,700 points

– I approach this challenge like everyone else – I will do everything I can to ensure that justice is done, Chiles wrote.
