The transition study support was introduced in October 2022 and enables adults to further their education.
The support can be applied for by people who are between 27 and 62 years old, have worked a total of eight of the last 14 years and at least 12 months of the last 24.
The government: The transition support is too complicated
Now the government wants to simplify the processing of applications.
Ever since the start, interest in the support has been great, but the process to get it too complex. The situation has created long processing times at the Central Student Support Board (CSN).
“More people can get decisions in time”
The government has therefore decided on a legal council referral with proposals for changes that create a more appropriate transition study support.
“The rule simplifications that are now proposed make it possible to further shorten processing times and mean that more people can receive decisions in time,” says the Minister of Education Mats Persson (L) according to a press release.
One suggestion is that employment in a shortage sector should not have a negative impact on the possibilities of being granted the support. Today, the demand on the labor market where the person already works must be weighed when applying for support.
Sara had to wait for CSN for a year
News24 have previously written about Sara Riis Hasselskog in Malmö, which had to wait almost a year for its decision on conversion support from CSN.
By then, two semesters had already passed since the start of the course. Instead, she had to take out a student loan.
– When you are in the middle of working life and have to go back to living on student loans even though you have a car and children, it impoverishes your finances.
