Fully developed fire in terraced house in Västerås

– The entire attic is in flames, said Magnus Jansson Klarin, press spokesperson at the police, shortly after the alarm.

The fire must have affected as many as ten apartments. According to the emergency services, there was a fire in the roof structure.

– We will let the wind burn off. We do not yet have control over the fire, said line operator Roger Sverndal at 3:45 p.m.

At 4:15 p.m., the fire was judged to be over, according to information given to SVT’s reporter on site.

No injuries

According to the police and the emergency services, there is currently no information on anyone injured. The police were on the scene and helped, among other things, the emergency services with evacuating residents.

– We are checking the homes in the row of townhouses in question so that no one is left at home, said Magnus Jansson Klarin, spokesperson for the police.

At 3 p.m., the police reported that all the homes in the neighborhood were empty of residents.

Bicycle battery may have caused the fire

The police suspect that the cause of the fire may be a bicycle battery that has exploded.

The row of terraced houses will be blocked off and a technical examination of the fire scene will be carried out when possible.
