(Finance) – According to the New York Times the Department of Justice American is considering spinning off Google in response to the ruling that Mountain Views was found guilty of violating antitrust law. The American newspaper’s sources said that among the Google activities that could be split from the parent company there would be the browser Chrome and the operating system Android. Another option would be to force the company to make its data available to rivals or force it to abandon the agreements that make its search engine thedefault option.
The newspaper however underlined that the evaluations are in the initial stages and the judge Amit P. Mehta has asked the Justice Department and Google to submit their hypotheses by September 4. Apreliminary hearing is scheduled for September 6th.
