It is a bug in the Swedish Transport Administration’s new signaling system that was the basis for the reduced train traffic between Sundsvall and Umeå. Mainly it is Vy’s departures that have been affected with around 20 canceled trains a day between Sundsvall and Härnösand.
Earlier, the Swedish Transport Administration announced that the bug could only be updated in week 38, a plan that is now brought forward by three weeks.
– This is a plan that we have really received confirmation from all parties, we have high confidence that it will work as usual again after August 29, says Christoffer Crafoord, head of department at the Swedish Transport Administration.

Large costs for the Swedish Transport Administration
Train traffic on the Ådal Line has been reduced since the end of July and meant that the trains were forced to run at 30 kilometers per hour over all level crossings.
What has this signal error cost the Swedish Transport Administration?
– There are big costs when we have to pay fines linked to delays, then it has cost to update this new system. What the exact figure lands on, I cannot answer at the moment, says Christoffer Crafoord.
